The Ballarat Sunday Market will run a number of markets throughout the year starting in early April 2024. We are very excited for this new market to get up and running. We are excited to have a number of local and non-local vendors involved! This market is open to all vendors selling new and second hand products!

Casual on the day stallholders are welcome. More information is listed below about this.

Ballarat Sunday Market 

Stallholder Application - Market Rules and Regulations

The Ballarat Sunday Market operates a number of markets throughout the year with an immense number of artisan stalls as well as food trucks to be involved. The market will be held on pitch 5 at Morshead Park Soccer Facility, located at Rubicon Street, Redan.

The market will run from 10am - 2pm. 

​

Casual 'On the Day' Stallholders

You may wish to arrive on the day without a booking. You must still follow all our Market Rules and Regulations and provide relevant details to the marker organiser on the day. 

A site will be allocated to you depending on the availability but there is no guarantee that you will be accepted. We recommend booking online prior to avoid disappointment. 

Casual on the day stallholders will incur a fee of $10 on top of the regular stallholder site fees. 

Casual on the day stallholders is not applicable to food vendors.

Market Stall Selection Process

We permit non-local stall holders to bring more interest and customers to our market. 

 

In order to apply to participate in our Sunday Market, stallholders must:

PRE-LOVED USED GOODS STALLHOLDERS:

  • Abide by the Market Rules and Regulations 

  • Public Liability is covered by the market

  • Site fees are listed on application form and below

​

ALL OTHER STALLHOLDERS:

  • Abide by the Market Rules and Regulations 

  • Hold public liability insurance to the value of $5 million 

  • Hold product liability insurance, where relevant

​

The Market Manager has the right to determine: 

  • The maximum number of stallholders per market

  • The mix and ratios of stalls

  • The number and mix of food and drink stalls 

  • Fundraising activities permitted at the market 

  • Entertainment, food preparation demonstrations and other promotional activities undertaken at the markets

  • Variations to the Market Rules and Regulations

 

Approval of all applications is at the sole discretion of the Market Manager and all approvals will be based on the information given by the applicant on their application. The selection is based on product criteria, quality of the products, the demand of the product and the available space at our market venue. 

 

The stallholder may only sell products listed on his/her application form. If a stall holder wishes to vary items for sales, they must notify the Market Manager prior to offering the items on the market day and may not offer items unless approval is given. If a stallholder's product changes, a new application form must be submitted. 

 

The Market Manager has the authority to reject applications that do not comply with the Market Rules and Regulations.

The application forms are set up per market date. Please apply for each market date that you wish to attend. The market manager will be in contact with you after the conclusion of the previous market. 

 

Upon submitting an application and gaining approval, stallholders agree that any images taken of their stall or products when at the market may be used on the Ballarat Sunday Market website and social media pages. 

​

As children will be in attendance, NO products/goods that could be considered OFFENSIVE may be displayed. 

 

Once your application has been approved you will receive correspondence regarding market dates and availability. Submitting an application does NOT mean that you have been approved for a stall at the market. 

 

You can fast track your application by ensuring you have attached all correct and relevant documentation.

Sites and Fees

The Ballarat Sunday Market will operate at Morshead Park, located on Rubicon Street, Redan. We will be using pitch number 5, which is a large grassed area.  

​

Site fees are based on anticipated crowd attendance.

​

Outdoor Sites: 

The costs are as follows: 

​

3m x 3m: $50

3m x 6m: $80

Food Truck/Van: $80

​

Used Goods Only 3m x 3m: $35

Used Goods Only 3m x 6m: $60

 

There is no power available at this site, so stallholders must bring a generator if they need. This must be written on your application. 

​

All stallholders must select and pay for the correct site. Any vendor who is caught selling new products when only paying for a 'used goods' site will be asked to pack up and leave. They will not be able to return to the market and will not receive a refund. 

​

Payments:

FULL payment must be paid to secure the booking of your stall. Your stall is NOT confirmed or booked until the full payment is paid and remittance provided. Payments are all paid via bank transfer. When making a bank transfer payment, please include your STALL NAME and your STALL IDENTIFICATION NUMBER for ease of identification. You will receive an invoice with all this information once you have been confirmed as a stallholder for a market. 

 

In situations that may prevent a stallholder from attending the market, please let the Market Manage know ASAP. A credit of your payment will be given to stallholders who give a minimum of 48hrs notice, which is midnight Thursday the week of the market. If less than 48hrs notice is given, NO credit or refund will be issued.

 

The Market Management is not responsible for adverse weather conditions, including outcomes that may affect the cancellation of the market. If a stallholder decides to cancel their stall due to poor weather conditions, please do so within the correct time frame. NO CREDITS OR REFUNDS are given for reduced trading hours on market days due to adverse weather conditions as perceived by the stallholder and/or Market Manager.

On the day:

Alexa or a helper will be at the venue from approx 8am – 4pm on each market day. Alexa or a helper will direct you to your site. If you are running late for any reason, please contact Alexa immediately.

 

Stallholders are responsible to bring all of their own equipment, for setting up and leaving the site and communal areas clean and tidy. 

 

Stallholders must be set up and ready to trade before the advertised starting time of the market. Any stallholders who are not at the venue by 9:30am will be marked as a no show and your stall will not be kept, unless communication has been made to the Market Manager. 

  

PLEASE KNOW YOU WILL BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO THE VENUE

 

Stallholders are expected to be neatly and suitably dressed on market days. Stallholder representatives must be courteous in their dealings with the public and other stallholder operators. Stallholders are to keep their stalls and equipment clean and tidy. Every stall should be clearly identified and named. Tablecloths displaying signage or promoting your business and/or products are highly recommended. 

 

The total product price must be clearly displayed within your stall as well as any dietary requirements and ingredients where necessary.

Second hand items must be clearly labelled as such. 

 

Stallholders must NOT pack up their stalls before the end of the advertised trading time, unless authorised by the Market Manager. 

 

Stallholders MUST remove all materials, including waste and packaging from their stall site. Stallholders are not to place their waste in public bins. Stallholders are not to discharge any liquid waste onto the street or drains. Failure to comply with these cleaning standards will result in a $50 cleaning fee and possible cancellation for future markets. The bins at the venue are for CUSTOMER USE ONLY. If you are caught using the venue bins for stallholder rubbish you will be fined $50.

Regulatory Requirements:

Smoking and vaping in and around the premises are NOT permitted. If you do wish to participate in this activity, you must leave the venue grounds. 

 

If you are required to hold an insurance policy, it must be on site and all times and be accessible for the Market Manager to review. 

 

Food and Drink Vendor Regulations: 

All food vendors MUST be registered with Streatrader and must trade in accordance with State food handling regulations and other relevant local health laws. The City of Ballarat Environmental Health Officer/s may visit the market from time to time to review regulatory compliance. 

 

Drink stall holders that are selling alcohol, MUST comply with Liquor Licensing requirements and must provide an RSA for persons selling alcohol at the market.

 

Stallholders will exercise good judgement and always be respectful, courteous and professional to the Market Manager, fellow stallholders, customers and any others affiliated with the market, in person and on all platforms of social media. Any stallholder social media activity that brings the reputation of the market into disrepute may lead to immediate termination from the market. There is zero tolerance to bullying and intimidation.

 

Failure to comply with the Market Rules and Regulations will result in your being required to cease trading until you remedy the situation. Repeated breaches will result in you being banned from the market. 

 

Offensive behaviour will not be tolerated. Vendors are to report any abuse they may incur from customers to the Market Manager who will refer the matter to the police if necessary. 

 

Stallholder Indemnity:

Without limiting the generality of any other provision of these regulations, the stallholder hereby indemnifies and holds the market manager harmless from and against all claims for Loss arising in connection with or in relation to:

-   The stallholder occupation of the market

-   The sale or attempted sale of the approved products or any other products or services

-   Any injury or harm suffered by the stallholder

-   Any injury or harm cause to any property or suffered by any person as a direct or indirect consequence, in whole or in part, of any act or omission by the stallholder

-   Any loss or damage to the stallholder’s property regardless of the cause of that loss or damage

-   The death of any person of a consequence, in whole or in part, of any act or omission by the stallholder

-   Any breach of these regulations by the stall holder

-   Any legal costs on a full indemnity basis incurred by the Manager as a result of the stallholder’s breach of these regulations
